With all the rice toys out there... where can I find Performance parts for my Wifes 99 Plymouth Breeze.
It has the 2.4L 4cyl engine. and its not a slouch, but all mid to mid-high, and loses it around 80MPH.
We put a set of new Sneaks (215's on 16" rims) and it looks Cool and handles better than my Truck (2k dak RT).
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

There are lots of performance parts for the Dodge Neon which I believe is essentially the same car (I don't own either one). The latest issue of 'Mopar Now' has plenty listed in it (I loaned my copy to a freind, so I don't have any handy instant referrals). Some of the 'rice' based magazines will likely have similar ads. Also, try doing a search for Breeze or Neon based forums, the folks on those boards will likely have a better idea what's good and what's not for the car than I do. Do try to stick to performance upgrades though and avoid the gimicky ricer gear (I'm sure you already know this though). :btg:

There are several interesting reports of hopping up the 2.4 with factory parts-bin work. One is to swap in the intake manifold from a DOHC Neon. This'll give the 2.4 a lot more upper RPM breathing. I have seen this done on a 2.4-powered first generation Neon but do not know if this mod fits on a cloud car. The other thing is that I have heard of people importing Mexican Stratus R/T turbo parts. The instance I've seen was for some freakish hybrid motor stuffed into a Dodge Lancer, which used the 2.4 head, Stratus R/T turbo manifolds, and a 2.5 shortblock. With enough boost, that monstrosity produced well over 400 lb-ft of torque. No, that's not a typo. I can find the dyno graphs if you want. Maybe some of the guys at www.turbododge.com can help you more.

there are alot of stratus forums around so try that for specific info
the DOHC 2.4 stratus shares the head with the DOHC neon
cam magnets are out of phase and the cam gears are fliped around for the correct offset.. what that means is you CAN use aftermarket DOHC neon cams but 2.4 specific are available
for cam gears look for 2.4 specific
the simple mods i can see for you are
cold air intake, port and polish the aluminum intake mani, and posibly if it fits look for a shorty header posibly OBX,borla or pacesetter
i suggest NOT using the neon intake mani because its runners are short enough that it may cost you tourqe, your stratus is much heavier than a neon
the BEST way to get power of course is a turbo kit
you can try one from hahn racecraft
and use SRT4 internals
the rods and pistons are good for 450-500 WHP when the motor is tunned properly and cost around $250 for all for with rings and asembled from your dodge dealer be sure to use the SRT4 bearings with them as well
if your lucky you can find a complete SRT4 motor from a junkyard it should be somewhere between 1500-2000 with the exhaust turbo manifold
if you go this route you HAVE to change the SRT4 crank and swap it for your stratus crank as the trigger wheel is in a diffrent spot and a diffrent tooth count
good luck and check out stratusphere.org (spelling may be off)
and you may find info and parts on neons.org
