A friend has an 86? Mustang. The car will start and run for 15 min.
and then die. It will not restart until it has become completely cold. Any ideas or suggestions on things to look for?

Maybe the fuel pump is screwed. I knew a dude that had a Taurus that ran longer than that, but you had to wait until it cooled back down to start it again.
See if you can borrow a fuel pressure gauge that screws onto the Shraeder valve (looks like a tire's valve stem on the fuel line by the valve cover.) watch it as the car idles...look for fluctuations in fuel pressure or a sudden drop when the car dies. If the pump is healthy, the fuel pressure will jump up to around 30-40 psi and stay there.

Just one more idea..... this is something that happens to 80's VW's all the time. Check out the mass air meter . I know they're completely different engines, but just thought i'd mention it.

Now that I can log on, it's bound to be the ignition module. That said, the problem has been COMPLETELY non existent since 1995.

Lemme see here... They stopped making the TFI ICM by 1996(and the last problematic version was 1993 for Mustangs), yet you tell me "bullshit" about the problem being non-existent since 1995, which was THE last year it was used in any model Ford, namely the Taurus/Sable and some pickup trucks... How can the problem exist, when the part causing it doesn't? I'm not as smart as you, I know this, so PLEASE explain that. Please don't bother equating what happened when you were in the womb, to what happened by 1995.
Also tell me what the heck an AXOD, or any FWD transmission has to do with any model Mustang(including the 1986) ever made? You kill me with your insight and I look forward to a very insightful response. :flip:
Just to tell others who aren't as smart as funstick, there ARE limits to this "free replacement" module. Your car can't have more than 100,000 miles on it, for starters... The TFI in it MUST BE a Ford unit covered by the recall too, and NO aftermarket version would be accepted as a recalled part. The lawsuit was settled in 2001. This was 2003 when I last viewed a calender. "Currently being sued" over it? ... NO. If you're gonna insist on telling a story, tell ALL of it!
