Drop the 10% type R and that should fix any horse power problems you are having!

Sorry I don't know much about your ride.

Where'd you get a turbo for a '97 Cavalier? Is it intercooled? How much boost are you running?

Posted by: chris

hmmm no i haven't got it inter cooled about 7 on boost........Im afraid to give it ne more because i may blow the welds on the manafold and blowing the head....And no i want it to be converted to a standard......its a good tranny

Welds on the manifold? Haven't seen that too often, except in parallel universes where floorboards come unrivited if you use too much nitrous, as most are one piece castings.

At any rate, I wouldn't suggest trying to remove a rev limiter here unless you've got a fuel cutout instead of spark cutout. Overreving on an autocross can be trouble, and it's not worth a marginal horsepower gain. Autocross is most importantly a battle of drivers, and a battle of chassises second - horsepower is a lot less important.

Matt is right on the money... careful use of what power you have will net you results anyway. Better tyres, better suspension will make the car 100% more competitive.

Once you've wrung all you can that way, then a programmable ECU is the next (and most expensive) step. I am always reading about guys who fit FCDs and remove rev limiters, fit bleed valves and bigger turbochargers, only to hose a motor!

Do it right first... it's cheaper in the long run!

Yep - upgrade the driver first.
