where is the car and is it free?...

at the moment i'm not sure where the car is, It's being looked at for repair, which i know won't be getting done. The car should be home in Milford,CT in about a weeks time. He'd like to get 1100-1400 for the car, it does move unders it's own power. I got to drive it about a year ago, it was exciting. The motor does have some carb issues, it's way out of tune. Once it cleaned out it moved the 2ton beast. I really don't know what the cars worth, i was gonna to look up the possible value of the 9in. and the 460. I'd like to see the motor become something by someone local. I'd love to get a ride afterwards, motor running well and in a nice light platform!!!

Well if only it were a whole lot closer to me....

I've often wanted to put a 460 in a Fox Mustang just to drag race. It'd be a drag only car. Most states offer emissions exemption on anything 25 years old or older, so I could build one bad '79 Mustang. They pretty much run 10s on a decent 460. This may be next project after the Miata is done.

A 460, C4, 9" or built 8.8", and call it a day. I might do the 514 even since stroker kits are so inexpensive these days. Put on a set of Edelbrock big block heads, matched to their intake and cam and viola.... big time power with ease. I'd probably have to run a Demon carb or something modified by Barry Grant. It'd be a shame to run a stock Edelbrock carb or a Quadrajunk on something with that much potential.

What issues with Demon carbs? The only issues I've seen in 3 years of selling them is that the customer never returns needing carb parts. I have no problem with Holley carbs, but when your beat...your beat. FYI we have sold sh*tloads of proform dp bodies to stock Holley dp owners...at least 15hp on every car that had a before and after dyno test.

i have a pro form on mine as well that was bored out,... carb flows over 900 cfm now on a 650 base. only thing i don't like about stock dp's is the dont come with legged or downed venturi boosters.. ive never owned a demon so like i said im not gunna call em crap, just the carb shop i visit on nearly a daily basis (on race motors not street) they have issues with the carbs,... diffrent screws for settings, wrong air horns then advertised... normally screws up the initial jetting,... thats about all i can remember but theres more problems ive seen... im sure the higher $$$ demons are great though not like holley doesnt have assloads of problems either

I prefer my Holley 850DP Annular over my Race Demon 1000, but not because the Demon had real problems. The Holley was modified for flow help and both had to be re-jetted apon receiving them, and I needed at least one part for each, before making a single pass with either.

They're both great carbs IMO and I'd rather either, over most I've seen or used. The RD1000 only cost me $500 new, which seems like a decent price to me. I looked at them a few days ago and they're selling for over $620...

race carbs go for 700 through pmr near my house... thats a holley 750 that flows 1250 cfm and looks so damn bad ass.... gold and red. boy has this thing got off topic... i think for anyone looking for a descent carb for a street strip you can't beat a custom carb:roll: but thats if ya can swing it... i know i couldnt

Nothing wrong with a holley...but if any Ford guy tells me he has never seen a cracked off baseplate corner (think older Edelbrock manifold mounting) I will slap the taste out of their mouth.

The demons just plain work better after tuning. The HP holley or Dom are serious carbs...no complaints there. (except the baseplate) but a speed demon vs a 4150 dp is a joke. The mighty demon has air bleed action so it is one more step up the food chain. I have been in and out of hundreds of dp carbs and I thought I had seen it all...miss matched jets, no gasket on the bowl, but 2 or so years ago I sold one to a customer and he called back and said it was freaking out big time. I ran him through the usual speech. He came in and picked up some smaller jets and a 5.5 PV, 2 hours later he is on the phone saying his carb does not have a PV... turns out someone forgot to install one down in KY!!

i block off the p/v on mine with the screw style block off,... some people just toss em and cap the feed,... i can see if you can not get a block off...all the racers around here seem to think that just squaring off the jets work with what ever secondaries they use.... you really have to know what air horns you have in the carb,... and holley puts 4-5 diffrent sizes in the same model 750 dp's you can find out by getting the code off the choke tower. (for any that don't know)...

Posted by: RacingJason

Yeah if Bubba and Skeeter had a good day the squirters and jets might be correct too!
