what a fuckin' dumbass! Claims his car does 0-60mph in 10 seconds AND weighs 6000 pounds!! :tfg:

nowadays car audio competitions are nothing but--"my bass is louder than yours" and it doesn't matter if the install looks like crap.

6,000 lbs? That was a Cavalier, right? If that car weighs 6,000 (or even 5), he must have SEVERAL 50 lb. speakers. Whatever it weighs, that's an ugly interior. What are these kids thinking? THAT is cool? Ewwwwwww

Its even worse with the average Joe Idiot on the street today. The attitude is "I just want loud bass." Who cares whether it sounds like shit. Who cares if you can hear the distortion from 50ft away. Who cares that its so boomy/sloppy/inaccurate that the music sounds like an elephant with gastrointestinal problems.

I love running into jackasses with "killer" systems and having an opportunity to listen to them. They always sound like shit. I remember listening to one guys car who was an installer at an audio shop. I got out of the car and said "My head and ears hurt." He said "Yeah its fucking loud isn't it." I told him "No not really. Its the distortion that is pouring out of every speaker in your car that is making my head hurt."

This is the perpetrator.
What a crappy job on the box.
With all that weight, it should drive like a slug.
Dont you hate it when ppl overdescribe their automobile in audio and speed??
gagt98, I wholeheartedly agree with your evaluation. Most think if the trunk rattles its good bass, not.
What ever happened to sound quality?

hey guys, you may want to check out the Traffic Jams forum. its available especially for this stuff. and you posts won't fall off the end of the board really quickly either.

He's got to be kidding about the weight, unless he used a lot of concrete and is kidding about the 0-60 time. The plywood interior with no gauges is absolutely pathetic, and I can't see it being driven on the street. Is that a trailer queen stereo contest car?

i like his trunk latch. Home Depot special there.

but the weight is believable. especially if he dumped concrete in the bottom. the car weighs what? 3200 pound as is? figure enough concrete to cover the bottom of the floor to about 2 inches would be about 500-750 pounds. then enough wood to make 6 15 inch enclosures and build a box around all 6 of them and then all that shit for he dah board. easily another 800 pounds. plus, speakers and amplifiers are heavy. he probably need batteries too. at the very least 500 pounds and that is extremely conservative. i'm guessing closer to that 750 figure. so thats about what? 2300 extra pounds. if he actually used sound deadening material then properly then you can add another 150-200 pounds to cover all of the metal surfaces inside. and i forgot about the enclosures in the doors which could be another 150 pounds of wood and speakers. so he may be a little shy of 3 tons but i'll bet he is at least right around the 5000 pound mark.

Hey I had one of those cav wagons, I paid $150bux for it!

He could be using Gypcrete it's a little lighter.

That thing is a total POS, but it probably does really well in the stereo contests where all they do is measure the total sound pressure level.

I personally would rather win a sound quality contest then a sound pressure one anyday of the week.

I believe the weight part. But he claims the rest of the car is STOCK?!

no way that 2.0L 4 cylinder can move THAT much weight!! That POS is definitely a trailer queen! (or is it trailer TRASH?? )

The contests I went to were for overall installations (creativity, sound quality, installation quality, security systems--nowadays I find car alarms about as effective as screen doors on a submarine!!!--and SPL) The max I reached on SPL was around 135. my system was designed for quality-not quantity!

too bad you have to be 'member' to sign his guestbook!

PS--Guess I'm so used to posting in the Pit that I forgot about this forum!
