One of my friends dad has an '01 corevette. WE got to talking a little today. His is all stock. I have a 92 short block ported and polished heads, b-303 cam, maf meter, 24 lb injectors, 65mm bbk throtle body, pullies, a k&N filter. Southside upper and lower control arms, and traction bars and 3.73's. What do you all think?

Go get 'im killer!

In an 1/8 mile race I'd say you could take him. They pull pretty hard on the big end but if you nail a good launch you still might be able to hold him off in the 1/4.

My money would be on whichever car has the sticky tires.

what do you think about a 20 or 30 mph role? Also he does have a 6 spd.

From a roll advantage = vette. Try to get him to race from a stop, and get some drag radials if you don't already have them. Tires would be a big advantage for you since most C5s usually have trouble hooking up.

It will be close at the track. Idonno or care about the street... Sorry. You've got a shot and provided you make a great pass(at the track), should win if his Corevette truly is stock.

I agree, you do have a shot, from a stop. If you try to take him from a roll, you'll get creamed. 40-45mph was always my favortie spot to hit my LS1 F-body for a good rolling start race.

thanks for the input, we're going to try and go to the track wed. night. I'll let you all know how it went. Trying to talk my buddy into letting me borrow his bfg drag radials.

no offnece but unless he can't drive he'll probably get ya at the track.... on the street its no contest...you'll kill em. just throw those hazards on when ya see em comin up

Posted by: Tang

I disagree. I think on the street, from a roll, the Vette will eat him. From a stop he has a chance. I'm just judging by my experiences with an M6 LS1.

I beat a Mustang that ran better 1/8 times than me from a 40mph roll. Pulled on him badly.

Anyway, keep us posted.

well thats what i ment on the street.... from a stop, anything from a roll the vette will beat em,.. same on the strip shoulda stated that...woops... if his car had some more mods it'd be the other way around

Well.......are we to assume the Vette won, due to the fact that there's no crowing goin on ??

does "p" in MR. P stand for post whore?... just curious

Posted by: Tang

i think the vette won.......

I havn't raced him yet. My fuel pump went out on me so i am going to have to replace that first. I'll let you know when i do.

Sounds like you're doing your homework, heh heh.

I had a buddy with a Vette who wanted to race my TVR. The TVR has a TR-6 motor, but it's been hot rodded and it's a light car too. It also has a hybrid overdrive system that helps it run through the gears pretty efficiently.

So one day off we went for lunch, each with a passenger. I said it was such a pretty day, he should remove his T-tops, and he did, har har. I had anticipated the race, and my tires were overinflated a bit (less rolling resistance) and I had included an octane booster in the tank (that car has no cats).

In short, I was ready. We ran out to a fire tower at lunch, it was a pretty day. On the way back as we were running up the on ramp, I saw him make his move and he charged. I gave it the gas and from that moment on, he never was able to come along side my car. It was great. As we approached 100-mph I'm sure the T-top removal was causing some turbulance, but I ran it up to 125 and held for a while just to see if he was game. He was humiliated. I believe the vette was a mid 70's model, and pretty much of a dog. Anyway, it sure was fun. Good luck on your race, plan the event carefully.
