Quick question on 4.6 v8 FWD

Does anyone happen to know the measurements of the subframe and engine for the '96-'99 Lincoln Continental? I want to get an idea of the feasibility of swapping the v8 into my '92 Taurus.

I have no clue of the dimensions. I think it might be a good idea to ask a Ford tech if the Lincoln is much larger. Even if it fits though, it will be quite close all the way around.

Another idea is to find out how similar the V8 used in the Taurus itself is, as compared to the 4.6 DOHC. Good hunting.

I believe the V8 used in the SHO Taurus is a 60 degree engine, basically a V6 with an extra 2 cylinders.

Well then, he'd have to get dimensions for all the engines and the cars in question. I hink a curent Ford tech is the only way to find out accurately.

The V8 in the SHO is also a bit smaller than the 4.6L...

The 3.4L V8 is certainly smaller than the 4.6L V8. However, externally, it may not be a hole bunch smaller. That's why I thought of it and
That's what the 3.4L looks like. The 4.6 has much larger appearing cylinder heads.

a 4.6 is a huge motor in outside size. The DOHC's are bigger than a 460. The SOHC is still pretty hefty.

The DOHC heads are bigger... The block is much smaller(not that it really matters).:btg:

the engine swap has already been done. a 1999 sho was coverted from a 3.4 to a 4.6 conti v-8 . you must use the same generation parts as as your car .best is to use a complete donor conti. by theway the conti and the taurus / sable share the same platform . do a web search {taurus 4.6 v8 } or taurusclub .com. i have a 96 sho with bad cam with severly damaged head and pistons . i may be looking into this swap myself.
