I have a 2003 Mustang Gt. Im not the richest. But im looking into making it a fast street racer. Like i said i dont have much money. What can i buy thats cheap, but will make it accelerat, and more horsepower. Please right back on wha ti can do with mine.

gears, get you some lower rear gears. 3.73 or 4.10 should do nicely on making it quicker. A Cat back can gain you a little power too.

I believe they have a nitrous kit that piggybacks on your stock injectors for the 4.6. It isn't real cheap, but compared to a huffer it is...

Removal of the factory air silencer is a good FREE mod. Pulleys aren't too overpriced either. Pro5.0 shifter would prolly help too, making shifts easier(unless it's an automatic).

That new nitrous kit may be pricey, but I've heard of very good results from it.

The easiest way to make your car about 1 full second faster in the 1/4 mile is to take it and trade it in on a used LS1 F car. It'll probably net you some money in your pocket too..... and then you could use that to make the F car faster.

Get some sticky tires for it right away! Nitto Drag Radials run well and last longer than the BF Goodrich Tires on the streets, but the BF Goodrich tires outperform the Nittos on the track. Tang's right...get some 3.73's for it. 65 Fairlane and Grape Ape hit the big boy with the NOS NOSzle system. It costs a little over a grand, but you can't get a better bang for the buck!

Pay no attention to the little Mazda kid. He's just bitter because he has to drive a Miata.

i agree with some of the above. gears and tires first thing then the nitrous kit would be a good idea to get into the game

Hey VETTKLR,

I disagree with the BF Goodrich Tires being good on the TRACK. I took the BOYS car out to Carlsbad and had a 2.41 60' time with them. Went up in smoke. Hit the REV limiter instantly, had to get out and back in several times before they FINALLY hooked. Back to the slicks for me.

OLE MAN, did you follow that OSW link I gave you? I'm tellin' ya, those tires can work man... In this case, they should be more than adequate anyway, as we're talking about a 13 second car(12's with the nitrous), which shouldn't break those tires loose with the proper inflation and a tad of practice. Not that slicks aren't better for traction, but radials provide more stability at speed and often seem to net better mph too(less mass to turn, etc.).

Ole Man, you just have a torque monster!!!

Did you drop them to about 12 psi and give them a good burnout? What about VHT? Sounds like your track hooks about like mine! Your Drag Radials are freaking huge on that car. It shoulda' hooked and booked!

I'm no expert, but I agree about the tires. IMO, tires are one of the best mods you can do to a car. Good tires help in acceleration, cornering, and all around handling. They should be first on anyone's list. What good is more power if you can't get it to the ground...or suspension mods if you're still losing too much traction around the corners?

Grape, yes I followed the link. Maybe, it was just the HEAT of the day over 95 degrees. That was the first time I ever tired them at the track. I tried them fresh off the trailer and blew them off and the next time around I did a MAJOR burn out to get them HOT. WORSE yet, after the burn out. The car does have a SHIT LOAD of torque ( I'm guessing somewhere around 650 to 700 ft lbs). They did put VHT down on the track earlier. I even lowered the pressure on the tires down to 13 psi on the second run. You would think as BIG as those POS tires are they would do something. They bite WAY BETTER on the street than at the track.

Maybe, I should have tried to POWER BRAKE start the car instead of FLASHING the converter. I don't know, FUCK............ I'm getting OLD to many things to think about anymore. I've got the 90/10 up front, the 6 cyclinder torsion bars, the DANA, Super stock springs (extra leaf on the right side).

In the past, the car hooked GREAT with the slicks. Pulled the wheels, went straight and I had a good view of the DOME light .

FUCK It, I'm putting the slicks back on, taking the air cleaners off and uncorking it. SHIT, I might even buy some GOOD fuel

YEP, did all that. Except I went down to 13 psi. The instant I hit the LOUD PEDAL, the RED light came on and I was into the REV LIMITER. I happened so fast, I thought I blew the tranny

Hmm...You better just send those tires this way, and I'll see what I can do with them!

Posted by: Grape Ape

I'd run the DR's in the 15psi range to start the day. If you're sure that won't work, you can "safely" go to 12psi. You found out already that doing a big burnout with drag radials isn't a good idea. When I used them, I only heated them until I saw smoke, then rolled right up to the line. They seem to work much better with little more than a quick brush off of debiris and only slight heating. Of course, you'll still have to avoid WOT till you reach 60' in some applications, but it seems they must hook up pretty well based on the numbers we're looking at from Orlando. That track doesn't usually offer great traction to begin with, and it's always pretty hot there(not as hot this month as May-sept. though). I think humidity has an affect on racing, but high temps don't seem to do much. I'm sure opinion varies on that though.

VETTKLR, those tires wouldn't bolt onto your car unless you've cut the quarter panels and body!

I would do gears (3.73), under drive pulleys, a mid-pipe (h or x pipe), headers, and a cold air induction. Your pony should move pretty good.

FREE mods include: remove air silencer

may i make a suggestion....NITROUS!!!!!!!!!!!! cheapest bang for the buck

Well Twin Turbos work too.....lol
