1) Contact your local track, and ask if they have a "street night", or "test and tune". For complete beginners,

Does anyone know which would be my local Track? I live in chicago. I think it's closed for winter but I would really LIKE to go there in the spring and check how my z28 would do, before all of the mods I got in my mind.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the Chicago area, but you might PM "JustaV6" since he lives there and maybe he could tell you?

without a doubt, Route 66 is your local track.. and a really nice one, at that. You can also go to Byron Dragway (by Rockford).

I live in Peoria and consider Cordova Dragway to be my home track, even though it's 104 miles from my driveway. It's an easy route to travel for me and their track hooks... the pit area just isn't as nice as Route 66's, but they're working on that.

Would that route 66 raceway be the closest to me too, i live in southern WI

just noticed this post sorry heh...

but the track i go to is US41 dragway in Morocco, IN... i live in Chicago as well and its really easy to get to. Straight down US41 (indianapolis boulevard)... just take 80/94 south to indiana, get off on Indianapolis and head straight south. sorta hidden in a cornfield, but its a decent strip. I'm headed up there this spring as well...

i was wondering a bout s10 drag trucks

Posted by: Spenser01

I dont know about them $10 drag trucks

Posted by: speed freak

what about 10 dollar drag trucks

Posted by: speed freak

Are there certain cars that are not allowed on the track or can anyone race there.

Posted by: Grape Ape

Depends completely on the track and the car, as the track officials decide. Most cars are completely "race legal" and will be allowed to compete. Some are in such bad shape, they shouldn't be driven outta the back year, let alone on a drag strip.

Just reading about how the whole system works at a drag strip got my adrenaline pumping! I'm sure I'll make at least 300 mistakes my first run...

But thanks for the post! Very informative!
