Changing the quadrant

Any of you that has done it, did you have to totally dismantle the under side of the dash ? Pedal mounts and all ?

Me being the skinny guy I am, I almost had the factory one out by just taking the lower cover panels off. I got the quadrant off no problem, but the paw is ALMOST coming off the rod but it hits a metal plate to the right of it just before it drops off. Would it have killed Ford to mounted that plate 1" further to the passenger side

So if any of you have any tips on how to do it without taking all that stuff out, let me know. If not, I guess it is a big job after all.

Mine came off with a little bit of wrestling. Just yank that bitch off with some channel locks!

So my aluminum one will slide back on without so much trouble ?

I removed the dash for mine. Oh wait, nope... I removed the dash to install the entire assembly. For the quadrant, just fight it till you win. I think you'll have to twist it around till it seems about upside down... By then, of course, you'll also feel like you're permenantly contorted to that position...

Oh yea, I didn't buy a name brand. I decided to give some little guys a chance. Bought mine from a small company on Ebay. Billet qudrant and adjustable cable, $52.95 shipped.

I'll let ya know if its any good or not.

Thanks for the advice fellas. After calming down for awhile, I went back out there, pushed the pedal to the floor, turn the paw upside down and the lil sum bitch fell out ! After all that prying, and cussing.

Cant for my other one to get here now.

I'm sure that quadrant/cable are high quality. Just make sure you route the cable correctly or it feels like the clutch is super-tight!

Ahh yes, the joys of sitting on your head in a claustrophobic floorboard.
