Did you see the comments about it blowing by the Greenwood Corvettes, and still finishing first in class after blowing a motor and getting a spare put in, ha ha, that SOB must have been waaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead. Guess you can do that in a 24-hour race, and still win. I also noted the fact that the rocker panels were cut off and the car was lowered way down to belt buckle height. It would be a real scream being able to drive something like that. Think you could do it for a day on the streets without a string of tickets????

I like it. That's a car you can definitely call "rare" indeed. I read all the footnotes too, and as much as it's changed, it's a wonder they still called it a Torino! It is somewhat amazing that it finished not just 1st n class, but 16th overall. But to have done so AFTER a 3 hour rest to replace a blown engine is just mind-boggling. I can't imagine the anxiety those guys must've had when they learned the engine had blown and needed replacement. It must've been like telling someone to put out an M-80's wick without adding water! Where might it have finished without the engine swap having been necessary? Unreal.
