i have had my 1994 camaro z28 for about 8 months now and about a 2 months ago it started acting up like there was a lot of hesitation it felt like it was kicking back and running out of gas a little bit but this would only happen when the car got really hot. now lately it has been acting up really really bad like every day when it gets a little warmed up. so i got the transmission rebuilt thinking it might be that and it wasnt.... because it acted up the hour after i got it back from the transmission shop then i went and got a new air filter still messing up. and i have tried a ton of fuel injector cleaners like K&N and just yesterday i put a new fuel filter in it and its still hesitating really bad and i cant seem to find the problem and i was wondering if anyone could help me i mean has this happen to anyone else before I really would appreciate the help!!!

What do the tips of your spark plugs look like?

Do you have a local Autozone or parts store with a Diagnostic Scanner that can plug into your car?

optispark. part# 10457702 which is the non vented one on your car. The 95 and up use a vented one (1104032) that is supposed to be a lil better. That would be my best guess.

actually i tried to get it diagnosed on a computer at a dealership and no codes came up.... it might be my spark plugs or wires they look like they havent been changed in a while so i will try that next . but the way that it is a acting i think it might be fuel or air related

I believe its your Opti-spark or it could be your catalytic converter is stoped up i had it happening on a 93 Z28 before.

well i just did a full tune up i replaced spark plugs and wires also distributor cap and rotor button and water pump gasket and my car is still messing up actually it is messing up worse now the whole car shakes now like the car is about the fall apart and when i am stoped at a red light for a long period of time the rpm start to move and the engine starts reving up and down. its still only doing it when it gets hot i am so frustraded with it all of this stuff i have done to it and i cant find the problem but i dont think it is the catalytic converter because it only does it when it gets hot wouldnt it do it all the time if it was the converter ?? some one told me it might be the ignition moduel .....

The stop light bit sounds like a vacuum leak, but nothing else there does.

Have you checked the coil?

MAF or MAP sensor maby

Posted by: tgirlmanda

nope i was going to replace the coil if the ignition moduel didnt fix it . MAF i thought that would show up as a code on the computer??

ok now i have even replaced the ignition module and she is still messing up o well tomorrow i am taking her down to a chevy delership and see if they could tell me what is wrong with it

I have a 94 firebird v6 that did the exact same thing for 2 months. i changed the spark plug wires because the exhaust manifold was burning holes through them. I even hot blue HD spark plug wires on it to make sure they did not melt. Now, my car always had a rattling sound from under it. IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. TRUST ME. Empty It. Take everything out. then its just a can that provides more airflow. but the catch is that it is illegal. (Dont get caught). trust me this is the problem. the same thing happened on somebody else's f-bird. this is the solution.

I would have to suggest the Catalytic Converter is your problem. I had a 85 Camaro do just what you are experiencing. It was fine when it was cold, but once it heated up all hell broke loose.

well i doubt any shop is going to do something illegal so how would i do something like that???

I did it to our Vette when we replaced the long-block on it. I took out the entire exhaust and redid everything. The cat unbolts from the rest of the system. Then I just took a sharpend breaker bar I had laying around and gutted it.

i am having the same exact problem with my 94 Z28 but i thought that you would get a nasty sulfer smell if it was the Catalytic Converter. I was just wondering if anyone else would have any ideas about this certain problem.
