well sorry to keep you guys waiting...hehe..havent really had time for the internet.....but i found out what the problem was.....and it was that the extension housing bearing seized up and with the driveshaft still spinnin...it just basically broke........thank god the car is still under warranty coz the dealership said they were just gonna go ahead and gimme a brand new tranny... ..shibby!!....and im not sure if i heard them right....but i THINK they said that they would gimme the old tranny back.....they want to replace it because i guess they dont wanna mess with rebuilding it...but shit if they do give me the old tranny im gonna do everything in my power to try n rebuild it.....the good thing about gettin a NEW tranny is that i only haveta pay the deductible of my warranty, which is $100....*score*....and i think i gotta pay for labor but im not too sure...but either way.....the warranty just saved me at LEAST $1000...the dealership has already installed the new tranny and now all they gotta wait for is to recieve the u-joint, that the GM headquarters in Michigan, forgot to send along with the tranny....more than likely...this will be done tomorrow and ill have a brand new tranny to break in ....

I wouldn't expect to get the transmission back. Almost 100% of the time, a requirement in order to get a part replaced is to return the failed item so it can be inspected or whatever before the manufacturer throws it away or repairs it.

Anyway, glad to see you'll have it fixed soon. Sucks not having the car you wanna drive.

They made you wait for a u-joint?, Seems like they would have just got one from a local parts store and got the car out of the shop.

I don't think the U-joints are very available for them. I know ya can't find 'em at NAPA, I've looked for someone already.

Weird, Im gonna check tomarow at work and see if they are available.

At work they just called for a 534G precision number. Thats one of the most common u-joints.

I'd think for either warranty reasons, or at least HQ's insistence on a GENUINE GM PART is why they're waitin' on the u-joint. As if it matters.

yeah they made me wait for a u joint...pretty sad but it really doesnt matter now....ive so far put 400+ miles on the new tranny....and last night i did the tb bypass....so by Friday night....i should have the tranny fluid changed and should be all set to run at the track.....my buds are tellin me that i better run a mid 12 for sure now with the new tranny and all.....well see though....ill be sure to post timeslips and HOPEFULLY if i can figure it out...videos from Houston Raceway Park.....

People going to the dealer to get their cars repaird thinking they are getting "Genuine GM Parts" are getting parts store parts and paying for GM parts.

I am a commercial manager at O'Reilly auto parts. The local dealers buy parts from us all the time. They install what ever is cheeper to them so they can make the most profit.
