need help with my '94 lt1

I have a '94 z28 lt1 automatic, and it has an unusual problem. The car starts fine, and seems to idle ok(it sounds normal), but if i drive off right away it misfires and backfires and has horrible power loss no matter the gear i put it in. but the real kicker is that when the car reaches its operating temperature it runs perfectly normal and with full power. this sudden recovery will happen under any conditions, what i mean by this is regardless of whether i am flooring it or hardly giving it gas or sitting at a stop light. the instant the car is up to its peak temperature it runs fine. any help you guys could give me or ideas on what it might be would be greatly appreciated.

Check the ign coil and wire. Make sure it is not coroded. That is a start.
