I am looking at a 1996 Mustang SVT Cobra. Its got 32,000 miles, great shape. What flaws does the 96 have? Is it worth getting? Whats the best year Cobra? What about the heating problem? I heard the 96 has heating problems. Is that alone worth not buying????????? HELP?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!??!!?!?!

96 cobras are cool. I'm looking at one, myself. They did have an overheating issue. If it's not fixed already, just throw a Griffin radiator at it.

Except for the '03-04 Cobras, all 4.6 bottom ends suck balls. Keep it less than 400hp, and you're good to go.

My advice...150 shot.

nos is for pussy's who cant make real power...Ya... Im thinking about getting a 50 shot...

The 03 Cobra is the top-dog/best year...

Doesn't mean I wouldn't buy a 96 if the price was right.

NOS is for pussies..... that's why I only use Nitrous Express!! hehehe

The aluminum blocks in the 96-98 and 99/01 Cobras are better than the Iron blocks in the 03s...The blocks are proven to withstand up to 1000hp with good internals. The 4.6 iron blocks are good, but not built to same standard(used to keep the 03 price down). The GT and 03 cobra block are damn near identical cept for the timing set-up.

i have a 96 cobra. and yea it's worth it. im the second owner with 41000 miles on it. lots of fun and as for the heating problem. none. and i live in a city where traffic is always stop and go. the only bad thing about that is the clutch. i think my left leg is 3 inches bigger than my right but thats ok. the vettes dont like now.

i agree with everyone else the 03/04 cobra's are top dog, but the 96 cobra is still a good candidate, if i remeber correctly they should have a forged crank from the factory so the bottum end is fairly strong, if you go blower get some good rods and pistons and youll be ready to rock and roll, the cobra i dont believe had the valve shrouding problems of the same year GT's so it should work out well, just remeber 4.6 4V loves gear, good luck
