I need some information. I am building a 318 for a 70 D100 truck. I am trying to also adapt an A833 overdrive 4-speed to it. I can't seem to find any evidence that this tranny(O.D. unit) was ever used on a 318....so I'm having a tuff time finding a bell housing for it...anyone know if this part might exsist?

It was used behind the 318, and it's basically a regular 833 with a different gearshift pattern and different gearset. It will bolt up to any 318/833 bellhousing.

Actually it needs to have a 5 and 1/8 opening for the 833 O.D. unit.
The input bearing support is bigger by almost 1/2 inch.
But it is good to hear that the overdrive 4-speed was used on the 318....I can't find any evidence of it yet.
thanks for your reply

Yessssssss We have a Bellhousing from a 79 Dodge Pick-up. Looks like it's going to work but............there is a question about the clutch linkage. Specifically if the Z bar from the 70 truck will work for the 79 Bellhousing? Any comments would be truly appreciated.
Thanks
Jim
