Acapella Songs

Another one of my favorite kinds of music is the piece sung acapella. Got a few darn good examples. The first one that comes to mind is 'Down In The River To Pray' on the O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack CD. I've got another Bluegrass CD named America's Favorite Old Time Gospel that has two more good acapella songs on it: 'Children Go Where I Send Thee' and 'Hear Jerusalem Moan'.

If you don't know what acapella means, it means that the song is sung without accompanying instruments. No guitars, no drums, no nothin'. Just the singers' voices is all you hear.

Would it be wrong to drive around in a Hooptie listening to Acapella music blasted?

You'd definitely be different!! If I had the money, I'd certainly outfit my F-150 with an amp and big speakers and try it!! I think it'd be amusing to be driving around downtown Murphy on a Friday night with "Down In The River To Pray" blasting away!! (Friday night is cruise night here in Murphy.)

Hearin' acapella music like that would be a good contrast IMO to the 'thump-thump' rap you hear from most riced vehicles with big audio systems.

You know, now that I think about it, saving up for a new sound system sounds like a good idea too, because one whole side of the speakers in my truck right now don't even work! Because of that, my little brother and I have stopped listening to his AC/DC tapes because they sound horrible with just the right side speakers workin'.

Markus, I started this thread to see if anybody else listened to any acapella music besides me. I listen to it sometimes because, since I'm in a choir we sometimes sing some acapella pieces.

As for playing acapella music on your mucho car sound system, I was just jokin' on that. I'd much rather have stuff like AC/DC goin' for cruise night.
