Rattling noise

Ok Ive had the Z28 for bout 2 weeks now. Ive noticed a rattling noise coming from the tranny whenever I start moving from a stop. It only happens right before the clutch engages. My guess is that the clutch is worn out or a throw out bearing or both. It shifts great through all the gears no problem, its just that rattling is gonna drive me nuts, I dont want to hurt anything internaly. Dont know if this is normal or not but the clutch also has some play in it. When I press down on, it moves effortlessly for bout 1-2 inches before I get any resistance. Hopefully its somthing as simple as the clutch.

Thanks

LS

ok their are a few things that could cause a rattel
1. your exhaust system is hitting yoru tunnel brace
2. your shifter is hitting the edce of the plate -/- (sorrie not sure how to explain this one)
3. yoru friction disk is work
4. you have a manual throwought bearing that is supposed to rattel. (self-aligning in other words)
hope this helps

might be an exhaust heat shield rattling too.

did u put a short throw shifter in the car or does it have one in it. most the time when a short throw shifter is installed it makes the shaft so close to the black plate in the gear box it bouns and make a stupid nosie rattling while pulling the cluch out.. try starting in sceond gear if you do not here it than inor it is normal.
