Fuel injection or carb?

Does anyone know if its worth converting a fuel injected mustang to carburation. I'm noticing that you save money not having to buy expensive fuel rails, injectors, electric control units etc, etc. Can you eliminate the electronic system completely?

You'll need the module to control the spark (unless you're masochistic enough to want to convert it to breaker points), but the remaining electronics can be removed. Whether it's cost effective depends on what you'll be doing with the Mustang and how much power you want to squeeze out of it.

MSD 6A #6200 (6AL #6420 with rev limiter)
MSD Billet distributer #8578 (#85805 with a Vic. Jr. intake)
I would sugest Mighty Demon 750cfm or an 825cfm and a 1 inch 4 hole spacer

ripped all the injection outta my 86 and converted it to a carbed race car,... rescently purchased a injected blower car.
nothing against the carbs i just wanted to own a coupe and i stubled across one helluva deal. 8000 bucks cars worth 25+ easy.
some people just don't know what they have.
esp. when they didnt build it.
its all what you want.
i garuntee as soon as you throw that carb on,.. here come some heads, a big cam and nitrous.

Carburetion is less expensive, but EFI is much better IMO for a street driver.

Both work very well, check out http://www.carbdford.com/forums/ all you want to know about carb'ed Fords

this is a dated thread, but............why couldn't you pull "everything" and go back to "breaker points" as Matt noted, but instead of breaker points, use a $100 Pertronix unit. That would toss the Ford "module", and everything. It would be basically a pre-smog setup. Only problem, how would you adapt the new style distributor to the pertronix? Guess you'd need an old style distributor??

Well, since Ford does have non-computerized electronic ignitions, hunting down a points type distributor just to install an Ignitor seems like a bit of an unnecessary expense. If the distributor already has a mechanical and vacuum advance, it should work fine with the appropriate module. A smog distributor may need some re-curving, but chances are a pre-smog one would benefit from that too.
Nothing wrong with the Pertronix unit; I've got one in my Dart. It just doesn't seem necessary in this case.

I have a fuel injection setup from a 302W I was toying with to put on a 289. I also thought the manifold may suit multiple carbs. Has anyone gone down either track?
