Raced a 92 RS Camaro

last night we left my house after a sold him a front valance and i asked if he wanted to race. the light turned green and i pulled away the whole race and i had him by about 5 carlengths by the end of 2nd gear. afterwards he let me drive his car and it was fun to drive because of the 5-speed. not fast but fun. now i want to try and get a 5-speed again.

the pedals are pretty easy to swap.

Its the rest of the parts that are a PITA.

when my transmission went out last year, i looked for a 5-speed for a couple of months. when i gave up and just bought the 88 for the tranny, 2 days later there was a 5-speed in the paper for a couple hundred bucks. i was pissed. when i had my fiero, it was only a 4 banger but it was fun to drive because of the 5-speed. plus it was pretty much a gocart with doors. best $150 bucks i ever spent.

I too looked into putting a 5 speed in my car when my tranny was dying again (thanks aamco for a real bang up job!)

I couldn't find a WC t-5 for less than $500. After all the other parts it would have cost about $800-900 for a used tranny w/ no warranty. So, I had my 700r4 rebuilt again. I really need to pound the piss out of this one. If it breaks, I want it to break while its still under warranty.

thats what my friend is going to do withs his 350 he just got. he is gonna break it in then hes gonna rape it until the warrenty expires. he keeps talking shit on how he is gonna beat my ass in a race. i keep telling him he got nothing special but he dont listen. he got a honed out 350, the heads are not rebuilt, with alot of shit on the valves, 488' cam, carter carb, edelbrock performer intake, and stock 2 1/4 exhaust and no shocks. just out of couresity, any one know what kinda horsepower he'll have?

P.S. he cant even get it started at the moment.

what info do you need. it is an 85 camaro that came with the LG4 305 with 150hp stock. the block is an early 80s truck engine block. 675 cfm carb, stock exhaust manifolds and tubing, and stock ignition.

so he took a 350 block, put in a mild cam and slapped on all the 305 stuff? I duno, maybe 170-180 hp?

the guy that built the engine gave him a set of 350 heads. then all he did was put on the intake and carb. the guy put in the cam. but my friend thinks it is gonna be so badass. its not running yet but he goes around challenging people to races and telling them he got a brand new racing 350. i tell him that he is gonna be dissapointed. but he dont listen. i just keep quiet until he gets it running. then i will teach him a thing or two.

Hmmm, wonder what 350 heads...? Its still hard to say. Could be anywhere from 200-300hp. Though probibly much closer to 200.

I guess you'll just have to wait and see how bad he gets smoked.

esp. since i will have my intake and carb on by then. after we race i will be the one talking shit, and i am gonna let him have it for all the shit he talked. i will let you guys know when i race him and what happens. he thinks he is gonna have close to 400 hp. he never listens to me, when i tell hhim he will have much less. oh well.

he is basing all this on the cam.

he thinks his exhaust will be fine for his engine, but it wont. he says "its less than an inch is diameter to yours" i tell him the exhaust he has is performance for a 4 banger. he will learn.

I think there's more to building power than a cam, maybe he should take another look at what an engine consists of.

he wont listen until his car is just as fast has when he had it. just fyi, his last engine blew because a paper towel got stuck in the oil pump. he thought his oil pressure gauge broke. it was working when he bought it. but he thought it broke when he was working on his car one day.

oh i forgot, i was coming home from my friends moms company picnic. and a civic was behind me at a stopsign. i was making a right and he was behind me waiting to make a right. so i thought i would show him what american muscle could do. so i put it in a low gear and punched it, totally smoking his ass out.

it was great. then he made a left instead of a right.

Maybe knocking this guy on the head with a quart of oil will make something snap into place, maybe not. some things are a lost cause
