Check it out:

It's a '76 280Z. The engine is a 350 bored .030 over, don't know about the CR but it runs fine on 87. Don't know the cam specs either, but it's a hyd roller and gives the exhaust a nice cammin' sound. Don't know about the heads or valve's either, but it's got roller rockers. It does have a holley 650, headman full length headers, and an edelbrock torker intake. The trans is an M22. The rearend has a jaguar center section with 4:10s and a posi.

damn dude, I love the old Z car's and yours has a v8! That kicks ass!

Posted by: skeezix

That thing must be fuckin' nuts!

Posted by: Ground Rat

Hahaha, yeah. It's a little rough on the outside (but almost no rust), but it runs like a raped ape. The dude I bought it off of said it runs 11.90s - 12.10s, but he didn't have any time slips so who knows... It definitely hauls ass though.

how much it cost you?

Posted by: Ground Rat

$3500. I think I got a decent deal considering what has been done to it and how little rust there is.

Posted by: MikeT

hell i've seen unrusty stock 280's for about that much. So, it sounds like a pretty good deal.

There is one of those running around here with an LS1 in it! He has been kicked off may tracks for not having a cage!

its actually such a common swap, they make mounting plates for the stock tranny to mount to a 350.

go here for all the goodies...

Awesome car btw. and a good deal too. I drove a 78 280z 2+2 for the first 6 years of my driving life. loved it. a dipshit in an audi ended that though...

Thats interesting, how much power can those withstand. For example, with 425hp/450 lb. tq. would it last long?

Dont know... I never really researched it much past the "slightly interested" stage. I'm sure someone has tested how much it will take, but most people just change it all out when they do the swap.
I know a guy named Auxilary who is putting a twin turbo rotary engine from a TT rx7... its funny because the engine bay is over half empty due to the small size of the engine...

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. I've always been a fan of Z cars... in fact I think the first modified car I can remember was my uncle's 240Z.
