Anyone running a scanner with your radar protection??

I'm a serious speeder with the kind of cars I drive, because they're all capable of doubling the speed limit and still being "safe", except of course, for the idiots on the road talking on the cell phones, pulling out in front of others, etc. I run a V1 radar detector, and it's the next best thing from your personal AWACS system. They really are quite awesome, although they |(nor anything else I know of) will protect against laser. If the unit goes off, you're basically dead with laser.

Therefore I'm trying to increase my chances of survival, and I'm wondering if anyone is running a scanner, and if so, which one is the best for the job. "The job" is to drive at high rates of speed without being caught, when conditions allow, of course. When I'm on a desolate section of interstate highway, and I want to clip off 120 then I'm not endangering anyone but myself. I'm not slinging through neighborhoods sideswiping kids or strollers, by the way.

The Uniden BCT 8 appears to be a nice unit. Any comments?

p- have you heard of that unit that blocks all kinds of speed detection equipment? It says it has a 100% gurantee to pay your fine and school if you get busted... I got popped by a fucking laser a month ago for 17 over, but the shitter is, i was 10 yards in front of the sign for 55 and i was doing 57... but he said technically i was in the 40 zone. fucking prick

fucking prick, for sure, and that's exactly why I'm looking into some additional protection, as I don't like having roadside conversations with fucking pricks.

I don't know of anything that really works against laser. They do have some scanners that pick up "local" radio broadcasts, and I see some value in that, as it lets you know "they are out there" even if they have the laser and radar turned off.

Alot of police and fire are going to digital systems. You will need a scanner capable of decoding the digital freq. You should be able to find out if your area is digital or soon to be digital by digging on your states websites. I do not want to see you buying obsolete equipment. Another thing In my state it is illeagal to carry a scanner in your car (transport is ok obviously) If you are pulled over with a scanner your fines will be alot more!

Check with your communications regulator. Here in Canada they can't do anything as long as the scanner recieves weather warning stations.

The V1 is "very good" indeed, however, it won't stop that rogue cop with a laser gun who really wanted to be a sniper. I figure on road trips when there is nothing to do, and I've listened to all the CDs, I may as well be listening for some "chatter" nearby to help let me know where they are.

When they're running with the radar on, it's a real joke, as the V1 is so good I can generally come to a full stop, get out, put the hood up, light a cigar, and be there sitting on the fender when they go by.

I got fined for the same thing not too long ago. I should realy get a V1 seeing as how much I drive. But Im kinda poor right now.

Ive gotten like 3 speeding tickets since I got my car. Shit, if you were to look at my record thats all you would see.

My escort 8500 works good, the only time ive been busted is the night i left in my other car and i almost always speed.
