The tail lights are actually quite famous. It's kind of funny that they showed up on a Lola and a TVR, but they were "borrowed" from a totally different manufacturer.

Those tail lights came on some terrifying cars, this one being the Griffith 400. This one was thought of to be "more dangerous parked in a garage, than a full race Ducati running at top speed on the high banked oval, in the rain".

I guess there were a lot of cars that got a fleeting look at those tail lights.

actually, that's a win. Good going! "ATTABOY" !!

Here’s where the tail lights came from, the 1965 Ford Cortina, built in UK, sometimes provided with crossflow Cosworth designed pushrod cylinder heads and Lotus DOHC heads and suspension mods. They raced quite successfully in the road rally circuit and SCCA racing as well. In Lotus trim, they were actually pretty fast cars.

So apparently along the line, both Lola and TVR took a liking to the tail lights and used them on their cars. Pretty funny, but hey, pretty cool tail lights too.

Here’s a web page showing the entire history of the car. http://www.pixelmatic.com.au/cortina/

Well actually the dash on the TVR is wood. Some were furnished with padded vinyl over plywood, which looked pretty nice due to the type and texture of the vinyl. Mine has a solid walnut dash, custom designed and built by me. No expense or pain was avoided, and it literally makes everything else look bad. I pulled the old dash out, used it as a pattern, and hand selected the piece of wood to be used, and even matched the grain on the bevel. All original instruments were used, custom radio was installed, and even the back side of the grain matched glove compartment has been routed out and ever so carefully finished, so it could hold a marble when down and keep it from rolling off. It changed the entire character of the car and still looks better than just about anything else I've seen, at any price. The only thing that I could have done at the time to improve things, would have been to get chrome lined gauges, but I used the ones that came with the car, sourced from Jaguar at the time I believe. don't know about the Lola, I suspect it's bare metal.

PS: Plastic dashboards suck.
