do you have his phone #? does he have a cell? If you can get a hold of him let us know!

Posted by: Adrenalin

I just got off the phone with him, he has been without power since 7:22pm yesterday. He said his house is okay, nothing wrong there but his yard is pretty much trashed.

He said they stayed in a Hotel last night and they just got back home today. Says he lost everything in the fridge and freezer and up until today he had a phone but now the phone lines are down in his area. I had to call his cel but the signal kept fading. I will hear more from him tomorrow.

I asked if he needed anything he said they are good for now, just need the power back is all. I also told him you guys were concerned, he said thanks and hopefully the power will be back on soon.

Good to hear.....Charley was a sleeper hurricane no doubt...Not many thought it would do as much damage as it did ( at least from our area), until seeing the aftermath.....

It took a very surprizing right hand turn just below Tampa Bay, and people (perhaps some of you guys) that lived to the east didn't have hardly any time to prepare, as they thought the path was going to take the storm to Tampa. Then after turning East around Tampa, the darn thing resumed a NNE direction as before.

Since I have some family members in Pass-A-Grille Beach, a little sand bar community south of St Pete Beach, on the end of a sand bar, I saved the Intellicast radar images every hour so we could make a poster and frame it in their living room, hoping they had a living room after this monster passed. As it was, all they got was rain.

Glad to hear Jay is doing okay, but his post count is gonna suffer, so he better get a generator running real fast, ha ha.

From our perspective on what we've heard about the hurricane from the local news, it ravaged a bit harder than even the meteorologist predicted..When the path was cut towards Orlando, Charley was supposed to dissipate (alot, before heading through Orlando) from all the dry air moving in from the north, yet this thing still had sustained winds reaching 90mph in some areas..The eye went right through OIA..(Orlando International Airport)..We just dodged a bullet, because how fast it went through...I can only say this, if you are ever facing a hurricane coming towards your area, even a category one...stock up and be prepared, because you never know when the power will go off or for how long it'll be off....Last hurricane to really hit Orlando was Donna in 1960 and Charley was on the same path, but not quite as big....

I bet.....I'm sure his drum set went with him....first thing loaded up in the trailblazer.....

The people on each side of his room, and on the floor below, probably think the Swedish trampoline team is staying in his room.

You guys are REAL funny! :flip: I did go to a hotel, but only after one report said we might get 145 mph winds in my area! My main concern was all the big Oaks in my yard. Thank God they are still standing, but they are shreaded and one was hit really hard for some reason! I came home from the hotel that night at around 10 pm. Man, it looked like a war zone!

Glad to see your alright, jay.

Strange thing... The hotel we stayed at was so sturdy, you hardly knew it was storming outside! Plus the fact that we were a little further away from the brunt of the storm (12 miles from our home in Auburndale). It was pretty ruff over there but you didn't realize it inside the hotel.

Yeah, I can see it now, Jay raiding the mini bar, stretched out there with his family on the bed eating pretzles and chips, watching reruns from Seinfeld. Man, you really know how to show a girl a goood time.

The price gauging has started bad in Orlando and the complaint hotline for it, is ringing off the hook..From ice, gas to anything in need right now.....Store owners who have power are going to these free ice stops that trucks bring in, taking them back to their stores and selling it..Can you believe that? People are fighting at the pumps, in the stores...It's chaos around here...and to top it off..half the people driving on the roads here, need to redo their driving test, because many don't know how to treat a four way intersection with the traffic lights off properly....no curtesy whatsoever.......Some people may be without power for a month, I'm told...

Take a look at this crap.....and this is only part of it.....

Next thing you'll hear, GWB knew about this in advance and didn't do anything about it. John Kerry will be standing there IN FLORIDA (YOU MARK MY WORDS) telling everyone what HE would have done to avoid this terrible disaster. His sidekick, knows all about suing people, so perhaps he can give some leadership to America when we need it (excuse me, I'm a gonna hurl)

Posted by: No Rice Allowed

Kerry didn't even visit Florida....He gave a few second speech about the hurricane victims and moved on...Bush did come, yeah many might think it's a political gain, but what would they think if he didn't visit? He came in a hurry and promised needed funds on the way....

Posted by: JustaV6

my uncle in orlando still has no power

Posted by: Mr. P

Kerry knows enough to stay away, becuse there's work to be done, people are hurt, people lost everything, and they don't want some blue-blood with a billionaire wife in their fucking face.

Kerry will surface after the Bush boys get the shit for causing the trouble down there.

I've already seen a guy around here doing the same, but it was only $5 a bag!

I'm betting that IMSA blames Bush for the hurricane! He'll say something like..."He knew it was coming, but yet he did nothing to stop it".

Posted by: Mr. P

You won't have to wait for IMSA to do it, because the DNC is doing it now. THey're scripting it now. They want it to be bad in Florida. They want it to be bad in the US. THey want the economy to suck, they want us to fail over seas. Our system of elections every 4 years is downright scarey. No wonder the rest of the world is scared shitless about what we'll do. Bush is willing to stand by his statements, but they know Kerry won't, now that's a real system for world politics. It's downright dangerous for us. I don't have a fix for it, you'll have to ask Mike about that.

You know it's bad right now in Florida, but the power people around where I live, are busting their balls to get power back on..It's just so many people without it and not enough man power and trucks.....When you see people standing out clapping at a few power trucks moving in the area..You know it's bad....

Posted by: LS1JAY

Yeah, I also finally got my phone up and working as of about 1:30 pm today.

Deja vu' man. I never thought I'd see the day when people applauded NS power.

Posted by: bigjhaire

hey its taken 100 years to put all these lines in place..... i think the power companies are doing a good job.....they have allready done alot all things considered....i am glad to see that people are out helping there neighbors....and making sure their families are safe......its a shame it takes this to bring people together and realize how important other peoples lives are besides our own.....if yoouve got something extra,,money,,water,,ice,,anything maybe you should find a way for those who need it to get it...

Posted by: VETTKLR

Any idea when Cape Coral/Ft. Myers will get power?

Posted by: LS1JAY

Don't know, but it should be soon. They are working like crazy to get the power back up and running. I finally got my phone up and working early this afternoon.
