There is a Dodge Van that races at Bandimere that runs 12.60's. You would not believe this thing, looks like a hippie van. I will get some pictures of it later this month, he is always there.

I've seen a few surprising things at the track.
One was a 60s model Chevy window van. It was really all that heavy, as it had no interior, but it sure looked COOL goin' to the long end! It ran :yikes: 11.13 (@ 120 something) the last time I saw it (at least 5 years ago). It had "fits of laughter" painted on the sides (indicating it had nitrous). I heard he blew it up, but it was cool while it lasted! A 327 can only do so much for so long. That's the kicker, it was powered by a little ol' 327!
Another was a diesel powered Ford 4 door F350 4X4. I can't remember exactly, but I think it ran 12.13. I can't remember the trap speed either, but it was in the 100s (I wanna say 108, but I just can't remember). Some of the guys were saying it had a Banks turbo and that's probably true, but that's not all it had (I'd bet he had some propane in there too)! You just don't move (who knows how much, but) 5 or 6 thousand pounds like that without some serious attention to detail and I think 12.1s requires some serious detail! I caught a quick glimpse inside that truck. It was LOADED, TV and all! That's a real sleeper. I dig sleepers.
I didn't see it, but I heard there was a Cummins powered Dodge dully at the track that ran 12.6s.
Those are the first ones that come to mind, but I see (and hear about) many surprising things at the track.

How about a 14 second car carrier? Tom Posthuma owns it (you ever seen it @ Misssion Bowtie?) it's gotta weigh 7000 pounds and has dually rear wheels.
I also saw Dr. Deisel run a 13 in his extended cab Dually Dodge with a Cummins diesel... The thing made so much torque it was actually rippin up the staging lanes when it launched! Then there is the truck drags.... Some of those rigs go into the low 12s. Car wise a guy I know had a 64 parisienne wagon with a 500 inch cad motor that ran 13.9@109 mph all day... It would lift the front wheels 3-4 inches every time, and he got kicked off the track once cuz it was shakin all the mud loose out of the frame rails on the launch! The car spent alot years in a field prior to race use!

Seen lots of real fast weird shit over the years at the track... hearses, panel vans, station wagons, trucks, 4 door luxury barges.......

I remember seeing an early 70's (maybe 73) Impala with SPOKE WHEELS come off a trailer once. After they offed the show wheels and bolted on slicks, it ran low EIGHTS at over 170mph! Pure MOUNTAIN MOTOR MADNESS! That car was just sick fast. :P I can't say what was inside, but the outside was definitely show quality. I'd say he had a $4,000 paint job. It had all the weight needed to say WOW, wouldya look at that!?!? They SAID it was a 700+c.i. engine and I actually believe it. MAN that car was fast.

Depending on what you're searching for on the net, some search engines can lead you to an old topic from here....
