No, and since I dont, you can just give me that engine and carb setup. Ill save ya the headache

I really dont know, but that is an awesome setup ya have there. The 406's made great power and torque.

Holy Smokes, a 406 in the Pit?

tell me more!

(Sorry, I can't help with the tri-power setup, but I might be able to help on other FE issues).

How do you know it's a 406? Is it a cross bolted version?

You will need a set of merc(sp?) guages to balance the carbs, and setting linkages for outer carb throttle blade angles can be a weekend project, and jetting them is a constant "something to do." I had a set for a 289, but a single 4 can be tuned for more power, and less headaches. The only reason I'd keep them is if they were factory original to the car, other wise I'd just clean them up, and mount them on the coffee table for a conversation piece.

Pack them up, in a neat air tight package. Put an Edelbrock Perf Rpm intake on it,wth a 750 Speed Demon

woah yeah, $4k for a fresh 406. Never know really how fresh it is, but hey, that would make one sweet Cobra kit car motor. As for the tri power, they have a tri power web page out there, where they specialize in sourcing and selling these things. They're real pretty, but if you want the power, do what Ford did on the NASCAR track, you never saw a tri power there because Ford knew where to get the power. High rise intake manifolds and two fours, when allowed.

I think you are talking about the same place I posted him a link to.

OMG! you guys telling ronnie406 to swap out his trips for a demon carb are just plain gay ....sorry but a demon doesn't look as cool as tri power and only marginally improves power over the trips in the first place not to mention that carb will look stupid on an otherwise original car..... YUCK!

@406

I just installed my tri power in my 390 and it only took me a couple of hours to do using nothing but my ears...here's how, first of all shut down the fuel and take the linkage off the end carbs make sure the butterflies are CLOSED. then start the car you will now only be idling through the center carb, tune it to get the smoothest idle [really listen to the exhaust] make sure your not missing, a good starting point is back in the idle adjustment screws till they bottom out then back out about a turn and a half..this should get you in the ballpark, once you get the center carb set up hookup both end carbs and repeat what I have just outlined. ANOTHER TRICK IS while the car is idling take a piece of hose and put in the carb airhorn and listen for vaccum sound this sound should be close to equal in all three carbs if not use your idle adjustment screws to synchronise the sound,

feel free to write if you get stumped, btw my setup runs smoothly and the sound of the trips is KILLER! good luck!

A. You do realize this post is over 2 years old??

B. 3 x 2's ARE cool. But they will NEVER put out as much reliable power as a properly done 4bbl/dual 4bbl set up. And they are more difficult to keep properly tuned. When they go out of tune, that single 4bbl, even if not optimally tuned will be making a good bit more power. In this day and age, 3x2's are great at cruise night or car shows, but not the ideal thing for everyday performance. Not to mention not everyone has perfectly calibrated ears (especially those of us who have spent 12 years "tuning" jet engines on aircraft).

C. Dragging up 2 year old posts to tell everyone their opinion is "ghey" is GAY.

Dude, what do you do? Surf the internet and search every car forum for the words "tri power"?

I never saw somebody with such a delusional hard on for "tri-power" setups.
