Is it just me that feels that the GTO needs.

Some serious help. I have seen 5 different GTO's run this year and not one has cracked the 13.99 barrier. I first thought it was driver error but now I don't know.

What was the mph?

Posted by: 99FRC

Mostly low 100's lot of 103's and a few 98's. Heck I miss shift sometimes and trap in the 90's so I can see that happening. It just isnt looking good foe the Goats right now. I know the Rice crowd is loving it.

At that MPH it seems like they sould be in the high to mid 13s. Maybe the arent 60' footing very well.

Yeah they are not 60' worth a crap, I agree. Not a good re-introduction for Pontiac and the GTO I feel.

I hear the IRS on the GTO is kinda hard to launch on. Harder than the Vettes. They get the new LS2 in 05 though. Im sure thatll help.

Damn! With a little more traction I bet he'd go mid 10s.

Hell, my first time at the track with a FWD car. (shitty 60')
I was trapping 95 with my 4cyl VW Golf (stock)

I think when people figure the GTO's out, they will be going low 13's stock. As far as power output, I think GM just started rating the LS1 at what it was really making. The ones in the F-Bodys were rated at 305, were proven time and time again to be making around 350 at the flywheel boen stock. Anyone have any dyno slips from some GTO's ?

In mine if i launch it right i am breaking 4.95s to 60 mph, and id guess mid to high 13's... the 0-60 time is 100% correct because i let the car time me with its in dash 0-60 timer. Its not finikey on the launch, just different than a solid axle.

also, the shifter throws could be a bit shorter and more accurate, they arent as quick as the factory hurst shifters in the f-bods.

IROC, I would definetly get an aftermarket shifter in that thing. I considered my Z28 shifter to be sloppy. I dont know if that had anything to do with me killing 2nd gear though, although it might have. I think it's where I switched it to synthetic ATF for a short period of time. I put Mobil-1 in it, and it started grinding in every gear. Turns out it had friction modifiers, which reak havoc on syncros.

yeah, all the synthetic shit is great in engines and rear ends, but good ole dino juce atf is the best for our t-56s. Im looking for a shifter right now, should be less than 200, and work better than the factory one.

The GTO is just a freaking heavy car... they weighed one at the shop around the corner and the empty weight was around 3700 pounds... add a normal size driver, and you're closing in on 2 tons in a hurry.

well i am a huge gto fan. as of right now though I own a 67 mustang but would trade it in a heart beat for a 67 to 69 goat (67 gto's are my dream car) but I am sorry to say but I think the new GTO is a joke. Its a disgrace to one of the greatest MUSCLE cars of the 60's. Now it looks like a family car. And not to mention if anyone has seen the concept for the upcoming 4 door GTO. It should be called the Pontiac J/K. No offense to anyone though.

67 Goat , But I am partial to the 69, at least I think its 69. Was it 69 and 70 that had the hide-away head lights?

Back to the original post. I hope the LS2 in the 05's help save some face.

The video has been moved, I can't seem to find it. I see the 10 sec GTO but not the 11. sec one.

That is crazy stuff. I am sure it won't be long, as Tang said, before people figure them out and do the little cheap/free mods to get them running alot faster.

If Hurst makes a Billet/Plus for the T56, I highly reccomend you try one. I like mine 10 times better than my old Pro-5.0.

When a dead stock 1990 944 will do the quarter in 14.5 seconds, I don't know what all the hoopla is about with the GTO.
