I've heard that it is possible to gain up to 25 rwhp by changing my 2000 LS-1 intake for the 01-02 model. As I learn more about the LS-1 and it's potential hp gains with bolt on parts I'm considering the Edelbrock version as it is made of alum. and will allow future matching of ports. Any opinions?
ps With only 800 miles left on warranty dealership installed new 3:23 gears, no more growl but whats that smell? Can't they do anything right?

I had an ls6 intake swap on my car and noticed a difference. It seems most simple boltons have no SOTP feel but I could definatly feel a difference when I installed the intake. Now Ive got headers and some other goodies and am looking for a cam for this spring. Definatly go with the ls6 intake. Its good for a few ponies and really good if you plan on going further with your mods.

i saw on some guys website that he gained 24rwhp just by switching to the 01-02 intake manifold. i would think that the plastic ls1 model would be better because it doesn't hold heat. it is also capable of being ported from what i've read. i'd also consider getting the ls6 manifold instead if youplan on doing more in the future. i've been told that it doesn't do a whole lot for a stock engine but makes a big difference if you do cam/heads.

i don't know about the gears, i'm trying to deal with my own gear issues right now though. no problem with the originals though.

Good to hear from those that have made the swap.
My neighbor works for GM so I am going to go with
the factory piece. Can you say discount?
I am not aware that the Nylon intake being sucessfully ported though, even matching the ports to the gaskets would be great.

use a low speed grinder and fine sanding drums work slow keep the pressure on the tool low and let the bit do the work do not use a carbide cutter unless you wish to own a $$$$ junk.

well the ls6 intake is one of the major reasons why the (some of the 01's) and the 02's are so much faster. it will defintley give you atleast 15 rwhp if not 25...... but for the money, its not worth the 1/10 - 2/10's at best to me. there is so much more you can gain for the 400-500 dollars that it cost. but if you have everything else done and need to go faster, then go ahead...

the damn computers on these ls1's are freakin rediculas, you roll down your damn window to far and you need tuning

Won't you need one of the SLP LS6 intakes with EGR access or are you going to get tuning to remove the EGR all together?

I'm not sure which one I'll get as I am still stock.
The intake without EGR is cheaper though and if I can block off now then what the heck. It only helps with cold starts and has nothing to do with emissions to my understanding.
Will I get a fault code with re-programming?
