Are big Concerts a thing of the past?

I remember when one famous band could fill a football stadium, but it seems in order to do that now....Stadiums have to get a bunch of famous acts and rid the up and coming pre-bands....Local venues around me do well, but on a smaller scale....Clubs are benefiting more so than arenas and stadiums have pretty much eliminated solo bands...they need many...has the Internet influence this or just my area?

I just think there are a lot more options in music now than there ever have been before, which sort of kills the chances of a few megabands having that sort of following.
