Is it true that the 318 is a so called bulitproof engine, and the 360 block will only push out a good 60,000miles of joy. I have heard this before and am curius about how well each block holds up. Thanks

I haven't heard anything to support this - there is very little difference between the engines, other than that the 360 came out in the '70s at a considerably worse time for Mopar quality control. Consequently, the first 360s off the line had more initial problems than the first batches of 318's. Plus, the 360 had to fill the 340's shoes at the time when smog laws were choking off engines. The factors that hurt the 360's reputation are not really ones you need to consider when looking for a new motor.

well I have a 76' 360 block going to be built and put into a 72 charger, with a 727 tranny form a chrysler 300. I was curious what the differences from a cordoba and the 300. Thanks

Depends on what year 300, but that is most likely to be a big block 727 as I don't think there were many 300's with a 360/727 combo (I think most 360's used the 904 or 999, a 904 varient). Be sure it's a smallblock 727!

This 300 had a 360/727 tranny combo on a 76 year car. I just dont know if the 727 will fit into this 1974,318cid- charger-

If it's off a 360 it ought to bolt up with no problem. They take a bit more power but if it's what you have sitting around...

Don't underestimate the power of a 318...I have my 3080# 66 Cuda down to 11.62 at 115MPH

Original iron 273 heads and rods (188,000 miles) Racer Brown Flat Tappet Cam, Diamond pistons, 650 Race Demon, Victor manifold, FBO Ignition System from distributor to coil, 1 5/8 Super Comps, Dynamic 4200 Convertor. All Motor.

What about bolting the 727 to the crossmember of the 74 charger, I know the 727 will bolt up to the 318, but what about to the car? I am not to sure.
