Comp Cam 224/567/112 . Have a line on the cam for 225.00. Seems like a good price. My Vette has 3:42's and a manual gear box. et me know soon, I think this a good price.

Thats not a bad price, but I thought you wanted something a little more aggressive? If so, I'd spend a little extra and get what you really want. Have you priced new ones? They're not too much more. Terry @ RaceTech can probably get you a good deal on a new cam of your choice. I don't remember exactly what I paid for mine but I think it was only $325-$350.

With a daily driver that is a manual car how agressive do you think I can go? I have heard alot of people complain about surging, stalling and high idle RPM's. Someome correct me if I am wrong, but with a manual the surging would not be an issue. Plus I need to pass Echeck here in the Buckeye state .

How about these specs. 224/224 581/581 112 ?

The specs you have listed there, is close to what Comp Cams calls "Race only applications".

Heres one

54-428-11: HYDRAULIC ROLLER: High RPM street / strip camshaft for use with LS6 or aftermarket intake. Requires computer modifications.
Duration at .050: 228
Intake Valve Lift: 0.571
Exhaust Valve Lift: 0.573
Lobe Seperation: 112°

The next step is

54-446-11: HYDRAULIC ROLLER: Xtreme Energy XE-R design for standard displacement LS6 and LS1 - Race only applications.
Duration at .050: 232
Intake Valve Lift: 0.595
Exhaust Valve Lift: 0.598
Lobe Seperation: 112°

The best way to go, would probably be a custom cam if you wanna drop the $$$ on it. Call Comp, tell them what you are wanting, and they will grind it.

Thats actually fairly mild by todays standards. My cam is more aggressive than the first one which they call "race only" and almost identical to the second one. I don't think you'd have much trouble with an M6. Just get a good tune. As for the emissions, I don't know about that. We don't have to do E-Checks here. You might wanna ask some of the guys over at LS1Tech.com about it before purchasing anything.

Asking about the cams at LS1tech might be the best idea also.

Spied another cam. The specs are

228/236 .588/.601 112.

I know, I will need springs, retainers etc... How does this rate against cams you are running? Evil what are your specs? Can I go a littel more radical since I have MN6 car.

Now THAT is a nice cam for a street car! I don't think you need so much lift, but I like the aggressive duration. With a 112 LSA it should still retain some street manners. You might ask around though, and see if you can verify that it creates enough vacuum to suit a street car. I don't know enough about the LS1 to tell you if that really matters, but that came would certainly help create power.

Posted by: EvilLS1

That should make some good power. If you're worried about rough idle you could go with a little more LSA. I don't think you'll have any problems with drivability though since you have an M6. Question is, will your car pass the E-Check?

The Emission check in Ohio has changed to OBDII scan, so I think that is in my favor. I am trying to figure out where in the RPM band this CAM will make power. I drive really conservitive on the streets and save the real floggings for track time.

Check out some dyno sheets from those with similar cams:

You won't see a huge gain with any cam until you get headers. I'd get the headers first if I were you.

Headers are coming in spring at the latest. LT's with cats likely Kooks or Dynatech's. I am addng the cam as a bonus and trying to pick up parts here and there as they come available cheap. I may drive a Corvette, but damn I am one cheap SOB... Juice is not out yet either.
