1st to 2nd difference is .88 on the Fbody, .9 on the one you listed
2nd to 3rd .48 on the F-bod, .64 on the one you listed
3rd to 4th .30 vs .43
4th to 5th .26 vs .16
5th to 6th .24 vs .27

And the overall spread from 1st to 6th is 2.16 vs 2.4

As far as the revving higher, .07 is not much of a difference. Are the tires shorter overall than on the T/A ?

this is why i think the gto "feels" closer, and accelerates a bit faster. Altho the spacing is technically closer 1-2-3 on the f-bods, but overall the gears are taller, so the acceleration isnt there like the new tranny. the .07 might not sound like much, but even with tires that are the same height, it revs higher. 1784rpm@70 for the goat with a 3.46 1687rpm@70 for the TA with a 3.73. on the tach that looks like 1600 VS 1800.

comparo for the same rear-end...
gto ratios__________TA ratios

1st 2.97:1__________1st-2.66__________GTO accelerates faster
2nd 2.07:1__________2nd-1.78__________GTO accelerates faster
3rd 1.43:1__________3rd-1.30__________GTO accelerates faster
4th 1.00:1__________4th-1.00__________Same
5th 0.84:1__________5th-0.74__________GTO accelerates faster
6th 0.57:1__________6th-0.50__________GTO accelerates faster

Id like to see what the goat would do with a 3.73. what do you guys think?

Hey, warn me next time you are going to run off to another forum to discuss what I posted ..lol

True, the shorter gears will give better acceleration with stock rear gears, but it seems you might run into the problem like I have in my Mustang. With a 3.35 first gear and 3.73's out back, 1st gear is short lived and almost usless in most cases. That T56 in the GTO, is geared very similar to the T5 "Z" trans, which has a 2.95 first. Just something to think about. Throw some 4.30's in it and let the good times roll

That is some good info though.

as it is now 1st is good for 45 mph before I shift, it feels just about right for this cam. Im seriously thinking about going with some kind of forced induction. I am just not a big fan of the magnachargers. Im seriously looking into doing a custom whipple setup or hope somebody comes through with a turbo kit...

Go with a low boost Procharger. If the compression is still the same, it won't hold much boost.
