C4 Vette problem

Well I guess its finally time to rebuild the Ole L98 in our 85' Vette.
We lit it up earlier today for the first time in months, its just been sitting around in the garage forever.
Anyways, when we turned it on, it sounded like CRAP, maybe it was the 4 month old gas in the tank or something. But it sounded like only 2 or 3 of the cylinders were firing, it stumbled, backfired, popped, and after a few minutes of it running in the the driveway, the muffler tips were red hot, literaly. Im not sure what the problem is, anybody have any clue?

Check your injectors. Its common on the older ones to get clogged. Also is it throwing any codes?

Yeah, I was kind of thinking that it might be running lean or
something along those lines cause it was knocking BAD.
But I was attributing it to the old gas in the tank. If thats the case
what could it be? The fuel filter could use a change, Ill also check the injectors. But it wasnt showing any codes. That was
kind of odd.
