They were great and I am not old. Without them proving that there was a mainstream market for what was viewed as threatening by the older generation we would not be in the same place we are now. Without the beatles noone would have taken a chance on the bands to come after them. Music is a business.

Maybe so, but they still suck balls!

Not to mention Ringo is one of the WORST drummers on the planet! The drummer for the Rolling Kidney Stones take a close 2nd place!

Yeah Ringo does suck. but the question at hand was who had the greatest impact, not who do we like the most.

I say "Tool" Maynards the man.I don't think there is a more talented original band around.Just listen to either of there last 2 albums on a good stereo with some headphones and you will be amazed and lost in the music and you should listen from the beginning till the end as all the tracks run seamlessly as if to tell a story.Very complex music.
